Wall Hangings - Amazon/eBay
Fairy Lights - Primark
This is the only half decent bit of my not very nice student room. I'm sorry, but why would you decorate a house with green carpets and magnolia walls, of all the carpets and paint colours there are to choose from... I really hate magnolia. What's wrong with white???
I decided to cover the wall next to my bed with something a little nicer than the colour magnolia, and a wall hanging was the obvious choice, because they look amazing. I got this one off of Amazon for about a tenner - bargainous. The wall hanging across the top of my ceiling makes it all the more cosy, and it's fun waking up to see a mandala pattern every morning. The fairy lights hanging across are from Primark - I do wish they were longer so I could hang them across more times, but they'll do.
I've had the polaroid/fairy light combo up for a while now. I got the idea off of Pinterest - where else? It looks cute, although I am running out of space on the wire now so a new one may have to be started elsewhere...
Annnnnnddd I have about ten million gazillion pillows (which I forgot to photograph properly) because they are literally the most comfy thing to lay on.
So so cool, I really want an all white dreamcatcher but i can't find one!!

This is so nice and creative! My room is white and boring hahaha but I do have some photos hanging, does that count? :p
ReplyDeletePam Scalfi♥
Your room looks just like the dream rooms on my boho-chic inspired rooms post! Wow, this is so much more creative than the student room I had haha. What a gorgeous room, and love the dream catcher I have one hanging above my bed too- they're my favourite room accessory!

Ahhh, the corner looks so good! You've done such a good job at covering up the boring walls, and that dream catcher is absolutely gorgeous?!

I love the wall hangings! Looks straight out of Norbu's showroom! (But cheaper probably)
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with fairy lights to make a room more intimate! & I totally agree with you about the crappy student housing- I saw a place filled with bright pink carpet and instantly thought who the heck would ever want that?! (I didn't rent there lol)

wow, this is so cozy! I love fairy lights so much, I always have mine on with a good candle! The extreme coziness for a bedroom is such an important matter to me! You did great, love your room and I love your mandala idea! :) xx

I swear, before the pictures fully loaded, I thought you were in a team room inspire by Trelawney's classroom (Harry Potter). It's so cute! How did you manage to hang the wall hanging onto the ceiling? & how much were the Primark fairy lights?
ReplyDeleteHaha, sorry, I asked way too many questions x
http://increddyble.blogspot.co.uk
I used sticky back Velcro to stick both of them up, and £3 x
DeleteWow your room is incredible! I agree, I hate magnolia haha it's so depressing. Love the wall hangings, such a good idea!
ReplyDeletewww.sophieslittlesecrets.blogspot.com
My flat's walls are magnolia and I feel the same way, it also casts a weird yellow light on everything when it's sunny. White is so much cleaner but good job at hiding the magnolia walls with the wall hanging :)! I really like the fairy lights too, I want some for my room but have nowhere to hang them
ReplyDeleteSarah xo | PolkaDotLemon
wow the wall hanging is absolutely gorgeous! I never even thought of buying one to make my student room look better
ReplyDeleteEilidh from Velvet-Winter
this looks so cool, wouldn't have thought that this was a student room, you've made it look really homely and cosy! polariods always improve the aesthetics of a room!

this looks amazin! cosiest corner ever! cant believe that wall hanging was a tenner - have seen them for anything up to about £50! will have to check amazon out! x http://sarahinwonderlust.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/andalasia.html
ReplyDeleteThis look so amazing! I love surrounding myself with 'hippie/bohemian' prints as I find them so relaxing to look at, I also think dreamcatchers make a huge difference and have never slept a night in my room without one!

I had green carpet in my student house last year! This year it's grey which is better haha. I have a sheet on the wall above my bed too, me and my housemate bought a few at a car boot sale from a lovely African woman, they all have African sayings on them which she translated for us but I can't remmeber what they mean! I have fluffy fairy lights above my bed too from primark haha :P the home section of pompey primark is great! xo

Now THIS is the definition of a bohemian palace! Can I just hire you to decorate my apartment, hehe??? And yes, I'm so guilty of the Polaroids-on-string-lights decor too! It's such a simple but effective way to make a dorm look less like a prison cell. You make me so excited to start planning my apartment decor! :-)
